Void and Refund a Label

If you need to cancel a label for any reason, for example the order gets canceled after you’ve created the label or you need to make a change to the Ship To address, you’ll void the label from the Labels screen in the PayPal Shipping Center. You can then create a new label for that order, if needed.

Refunds for voided labels will automatically be applied back to your PayPal account. Once a label is voided, the void cannot be undone and the voided label cannot be restored.

Void Eligibility

If a label is ineligible for voiding for one of the following reasons, the Void Label button in the PayPal Shipping Center will be grayed out.

  • USPS labels can be voided until 28 days after the label creation date.

  • UPS and DHL Express labels can be voided until 30 days after the label creation date.

  • Labels that have already been accepted by the carrier cannot be voided.

  • USPS First-Class Mail Large Envelopes/Flats are not eligible for refunds if the label is unused.

To void a label:

  1. Go to the Labels tab of the Orders page.

  2. Click Void under ACTIONS.

  3. Click Void Label in the pop-up that appears confirming that you would like to void the label.

This pop-up also provides you with more information on the carrier refund process.

Your order will then move back to the Ready to Ship tab where you can create and purchase a new label.

From the Labels tab, click Label Voided to view the details of the voided label.

This will open the Voided Label pop-up window, which includes the label ID, postage cost, tracking number, and Ship To address.

Refunds for Voided Labels

PayPal Shipping Center will automatically send a refund request to the carrier when you void a label. Refunds are usually approved by the carrier within 21 days.

After approval by the carrier, you will receive a refund for the original postage back to your PayPal account.
