Purchase Errors

Purchasing labels in the PayPal Shipping Center is an efficient process, but sometimes you may encounter an error. If you were charged for a label but did not receive one, the charge will appear as a credit on your account.

Below are common errors and solutions you can try to get your labels printed.

If you receive the errors listed below, please contact Customer Support:

  • Error getting rates. Please refresh the page or try again later

  • Shipment Rate Does Not Match Quoted Rate. Please Refresh the Page or Try Again Later

  • A shipping carrier error occurred. Due to the current status of your account, you cannot print or purchase funds.

Error Transferring Wallet Funds

If you see the error message: "Purchase Error: Error Transferring Wallet Funds. Please Refresh the Page or Try Again Later," there are three potential causes:

  1. Your billing information MUST be up-to-date

  2. PayPal payment status MUST be listed as ACTIVE.

  3. Your PayPal account session timed out and you are no longer logged into PayPal.

Solution 1: Log in Again

First, try logging out of your PayPal account, then log back in. Try to purchase a label after logging back in.

Solution 2: Check PayPal Payment Status

Confirm that ShipStation is set as an Active Payment.

For Personal Accounts:

  1. Log into your account

  2. Go to Settings (gear icon)

  3. Click Payments

  4. Click Manage Automatic Payments

  5. Check if ShipStation is set to Active.

For Business Accounts:

  1. Log into PayPal.

  2. Go to your name in the upper right-hand corner.

  3. Click Account Settings in drop-down menu.

  4. Click Money, Banks, and Cards under Business Profiles (left-hand menu).

  5. Click 'Set Automatic Payments'.

  6. Check if ShipStation is set to Active.

Reinstate Billing Agreement:

If ShipStation is set to Inactive in your PayPal Personal or Business account, follow these steps to reinstate your Billing Agreement:

  1. Click your Email in the upper right corner to access Settings.

  2. Click the Account Settings tab.

  3. Scroll down and click Change Payment Method.

  4. Follow the prompts to reinstate your Billing Agreement.

Error Creating Shipment from Sales Order

If you see the error message: "Purchase Error: Error Creating Shipment from Sales Order. Please Refresh the Page or Try Again Later," there are two potential causes:

  1. The order has incorrect shipping information or an invalid address.

  2. The order has not been imported from PayPal correctly.

Solution 1: Verify the Address

Make sure the address in the order is a valid shipping address. The PayPal Shipping Center will automatically attempt to verify shipping addresses and suggest changes for validation.

Solution 2: Create a New Quick Label

You can bypass the error by creating a manual order.

Click Create New Quick Label in the PayPal Shipping Center and enter the order information.

The order must contain the following:

  • Company Name: The company name must not be more than 40 characters.

  • First and Last Name: Must be at least two characters and two separate words.

  • Ship From Address: The Ship From address must be a physical address. If using a PO Box as the Ship From, the physical address of the post office will be used for the First Address Line and the PO Box in the Second Address Line.

  • Ship To Address: The Ship To address must be a physical address

  • Package information: Package Type, Weight, and Dimension

  • Delivery Confirmation

Error Creating Label from Shipment

If you see the error message: “Purchase Error: Error Creating Label From Shipment. Please Refresh the Page or Try Again Later,” there are two potential causes:

  1. The order has incorrect shipping information or an invalid address.

  2. The selected package type cannot be used with the selected shipping service.

Solution 1: Verify the Address

Make sure the address in the order is a valid shipping address. The PayPal Shipping Center will automatically attempt to verify shipping addresses and suggest changes for validation.

Solution 2: Check Package Type

To create a label for a UPS shipment, you must use the package type “Custom Package.”

USPS Flat Rate packages and Large Envelope or Flats cannot be used with UPS services.

Error Creating Label from Rate

If you see the error message: “Purchase Error: Error Creating Label From Rate. Please Refresh the Page or Try Again Later,” there are two potential causes:

  1. The order has incorrect shipping information or an invalid address.

  2. The customs declarations do not meet the requirements of the selected service.

If you are still seeing this error after reviewing your address information and customs declarations, please contact PayPal Shipping Support for further assistance.

Solution 1: Verify the Address

Solution 2: Review Customs Declarations

If you are creating an international label from a rate and have included Harmonization Codes in your customs declaration, the Harmonization Codes must be between 6-15 characters.

If you are creating a USPS First-Class International Package label, the total declared value of the shipment cannot exceed $400.
